What We Do
We have decades of experience in restoration and thoughtful updates of historic houses in the Richmond area. Our experience is matched only by our passion for restoring old homes to their former beauty while also making them functional to meet modern needs.
Building strong relationships with our clients is of the utmost importance to us, and because of this we have had the pleasure of repeat clients and referrals. We believe that a successful project is built on honesty, strong communication, creative problem solving and attention to detail.

Our Process
We Get to Know You
We start with a phone consultation where we’ll discuss your needs and vision for your home. If it feels like we may be a good fit, we’ll schedule an on-site meeting. Once we’ve seen the property for ourselves and nailed down some more details with you, we can provide an initial estimate range. At this point you are under no obligation, and you can decide whether or not you would like to move forward with us.
We Put It In Writing
If there is a mutual fit in terms of design, team and target investment we’ll move forward with refining the detailed estimate. Next, we will sign a contract with you, collect a deposit and move forward with engineer’s drawings, filing permits, ordering materials and other steps leading to project kick off.
We Nail Down the Details
Before a shovel hits the ground, we have a pre-construction meeting with you to review work hours, our methods of contact, your main point of contact, information about site access, pets, people who will be in the home and any other details that will help us provide the best possible service while disrupting your life as little as possible.
We Keep You Informed
Every project is assigned a lead carpenter who will be your primary and consistent point of contact. For many larger projects, we use the project management software BuilderTrend, which clients can access through a private app. This allows you to see your project’s status and schedule, approve selections, check on budgets, approve costs, make change orders and even see project photos.
We Take Care
This is your home - whether you’re living in it at the time of renovation or not, we have the utmost respect for your property, sealing off other areas of the house to keep things as clean as possible, following current COVID protocols, and cleaning up the job site on a daily basis. We know that construction and renovation can be an intrusive process, but we work hard to set expectations at the very beginning and always treat your home as if it were our own.
We Hand Over the Keys
When construction is complete, we will conduct a walkthrough with you where we will review all aspects of the project and verify that the final product has met your expectations. As part of our follow-up to projects, we have Guild Quality conduct surveys with our customers which allows us to collect your feedback and improve our processes. Lastly we will schedule a photographer to take some finished photos of the project.
